Kris Hughes serves as the Vice Director for the Center for Joint & Strategic Logistics (CJSL). Operating under the guidance of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Sustainment and the Joint Staff Director for Logistics, CJSL focuses on initiatives that enhance Joint Force readiness by advancing joint logistics education, professional development, innovation, interoperability, and enterprise collaboration.
Prior to coming to CJSL, Kris served in multiple positions at the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, including Ministry of Defense Advisor to the Kenya Ministry of Defense in Nairobi, Kenya, the Defense Security Cooperation University’s (DSCU) Chief of Staff, and Senior Logistics Advisor at DSCU’S Institute for Security Governance (ISG).
He is a retired United States Army Lieutenant Colonel with more than 25 years of service in a variety of Command and Staff positions deploying to both Afghanistan and Iraq. He also served as the Director of Staff for the Directorate for Logistics (J4) United States Africa Command and as an instructor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, teaching force management and sustainment. He holds a BS in Secondary Education from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, a MS in Human Relations from The University of Oklahoma, and a MBA from Norwich University.
