J4OP-US1122 Joint Logistics Enterprise (JLEnt) - (1 hr)

The Joint Logistics Enterprise (JLEnt) is a central component of the Joint Concept for Logistics and is defined as a multi-tiered matrix of key global logistics providers, including the DOD, interagency, non-governmental organizations, or NGOs, commercial, and multinational partners cooperatively structured to achieve a common purpose. This course provides: (1) an overview of the many members of the JLEnt - (2) a map of the various logistics frameworks important to understand when planning or executing logistics operations, and (3) a set of recommendations on how to enhance unity of effort among the wide array of organizations that make up the JLEnt. The JLEnt, properly networked, will improve logistics across the enterprise as a whole and meet the challenges of the future Joint Force.

Joint Staff J4-sponsored Joint Logistics Course
The Joint Logistics Course (JLC) focuses on planning, executing, and controlling operational-level joint logistics by preparing military and civilians to function in assignments that involve joint logistics planning, interservice and multinational logistics support and joint logistics in a theater of operations. To accomplish this, the JLC integrates component functional skills and knowledge through the study of strategy, doctrine, theory, programs, and processes. The JLC provides the opportunity for students to develop the attributes, perspectives, and insights necessary to manage logistics at the operational level of war, and concludes with a planning exercise to reinforce this knowledge and practice these skills. The course includes a number of guest instructors from combatant commands and agencies.  The primary target audience is personnel who are preparing to depart for, or en route to, an assignment to a joint logistics staff (e.g., Joint, Combatant Command, JTF, DLA, etc.).  Other non-joint assigned or interested personnel may also attend when space is available.

JFC 100 Module 04: Joint Force Sustainment

Sustainment is the provision of logistics and personnel services necessary to maintain and prolong operations until successful mission completion. Sustainment in joint operations provides the joint force commander (JFC) flexibility, endurance, and the ability to extend operational reach. Effective sustainment determines the depth to which the joint force can conduct decisive operations, allowing the JFC to seize, retain, and exploit the initiative. Sustainment is primarily the responsibility of the supported combatant commander (or CCDR) and subordinate Service component commanders in close cooperation with the Services, combat support agency (or CSA), and supporting commands.

JFC 200 Module 10: Joint Sustainment

This course shares important insights and best practices on joint force sustainment at the operational level of war. It focuses on the functions of sustainment (logistics, health services, personnel support, and engineering) during the formation of a joint force headquarters, the execution of operations, and the termination and redeployment phase of military operations. The content in this course is largely based on information contained in the Insights and Best Practices Focus Paper 10 (dated May 2016), and other material published by the Joint Staff J7 Deployable Training Division.

Joint Force Headquarters Training
The purpose of the JTF HQ TG
website is a descriptive, performance-oriented, single source, Internet-based tool that identifies the critical tasks that a JTF HQ staff must perform and lists steps, practices, and procedures that assist staff members in performing tasks across the range of military operations. It also serves as a guide for the JTF headquarters in preparation for and in real world operations. It is doctrinally-based information, in outline form, to guide training and operations of a JTF HQ.  Provided by Joint Staff J7.

Joint Engineer Operations Course (JEOC)

The JEOC teaches students to understand sister service engineer capabilities and considerations for joint engineer staff and prepares engineers for future joint deployments, staff assignments, and homeland operations. It also prepares engineers from all military services for assignment to a Joint Task Force. The course focuses on joint engineer doctrine, service engineer capabilities, and how to use service engineer capabilities in support of global engineer requirements.

Joint Humanitarian Operations Course (JHOC)

USAID’s  Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance  provides extensive training to DoD staff through the Joint Humanitarian Operations Course (JHOC), which was developed to teach key U.S. military personnel how the U.S. Government responds to international disasters. Of the 70 foreign disasters USAID responds to on average every year, about 10 percent involve support from DoD. USAID may request U.S. military assistance to meet a specific need, such as deploying helicopters to transport emergency relief commodities within a disaster-stricken area.

Development in Vulnerable Environments (DIVE 1.0)

USAID cooperation with the Department of Defense (DoD) is an essential condition for the achievement of U.S. development and defense objectives. In order to achieve this, USAID and DoD must first have an understanding of and respect for each other’s roles and responsibilities, policies and strategies, and plans and programs. To advance shared learning, USAID’s Office of Civilian–Military Cooperation has developed a one-day course for U.S. military audiences called USAID DIVE 1.0:  Development in Vulnerable Environments.
