John Rios is the Director of Operations, Center for Joint & Strategic Logistics, where he supports the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment and the Joint Staff Director for Logistics to develop strategies for the improvement of Department of Defense logistics & sustainment. He retired in July 2021 from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel with over 25 years of service.
John received a commission in the US Army Transportation Corps in 1999 through the ROTC program at Southwest Texas State University. John possesses a master’s degrees in Supply Chain Management from the University of Kansas and a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
Duty assignments include the 403rd Cargo Transfer Company; the 7th Transportation Battalion, 507th Corps Support Group; the 75th Ranger Regiment; The 4th Sustainment Brigade; 3-67 Armor 4th Brigade 4th Infantry Division; 2-12 Cav 4th Brigade 1st Calvary Division; Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM); 530th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion; 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), and the Area Support Group Qatar.
John deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
For his last four years on active duty, John was the Director for the Joint Logistics Course at the Army Logistics University, Fort Lee VA.
