DoD Logistics Research Process

Information regarding our DoD Logistics Research Process which was approved by the Logistics Development Council (LDC) during its January 2015 meeting. 

 

DoD Research & Engineering Enterprise

The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (ASD(R&E)) provides Science &Technology (S&T) leadership throughout the Department of Defense; shaping strategic direction and strengthening the research and engineering coordination efforts to meet tomorrow's challenges.

Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) Institute of Security Cooperation Studies (ISCS) Research Projects

The Defense Institute of Security Cooperation Studies conducts educational courses designed to improve the knowledge and enhance the skills of a wide audience in the field of security cooperation.

Joint Doctrine, Education & Training Electronic Information System (JDEIS) [CAC Required]

The JDEIS is the primary website for obtaining authoritative joint doctrine, education, and related information.

 

Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS) [CAC required]

The JLLIS is the automated knowledge management system that supports implementation of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s Joint Lessons Learned Program. The JLLIS workflow processes facilitate the collection, tracking, management, sharing, collaborative resolution & dissemination of lessons learned to improve the development/readiness of the Joint Force.

 

Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC)

As a Department of Defense (DoD) Field Activity, DTIC operates under the leadership of the Secretary of Defense and reports to the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering USD(R&E).  DTIC supports the USD(R&E)’s efforts to mitigate new and emerging threat capabilities, enable affordable or extended capabilities in existing military systems, and develop technology surprise through engineering by:

•Preserving and disseminating the research that led to the technologies our warfighters use today;

•Delivering the tools and collections that empower the research and engineering enterprise to accelerate the development of technologies that will help maintain our nation's technical superiority;

•Stimulating innovation by providing access to DoD-funded research and digital data to the public and industry; and

•Maximizing the value of each dollar the DoD spends through the analysis of funding, work-in-progress, and Independent Research and Development (IR&D) data to identify gaps, challenges and way forward

Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Theses & Dissertations

Publicly releasable NPS Theses, Dissertations, MBA Professional Reports, Joint Applied Projects, Systems Engineering Project Reports, Capstone Projects and other NPS degree-earning written works.

DLA Office of Operations Research and Resource Analysis (DORRA)

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Office of Operations Research and Resource Analysis (DORRA) is the DLA Center of Excellence (COE) for strategic analysis across the Enterprise; providing insights to facilitate senior leadership decisions on issues of greatest importance to DLA and the DoD. DORRA is a field operating activity that performs timely research and analysis to enable our customers to objectively formulate policies and decisions. DORRA also maintains the DLA Integrated Data Bank (DIDB), and DORRA Data Warehouse.

Defense Business Board (DBB) Reports
The DBB is tasked by the Department's Senior Leaders to examine topics of interest to the Department of Defense.  The Task Group assumes the responsibility for developing recommendations and providing an opportunity for deliberation by the entire Board and public prior to the finalization and delivery of the recommendations to the Secretary of Defense.

Joint Concept for Logistics (JCL) proposes a concept for how the joint logistics enterprise (JLEnt) could support globally integrated operations in the 2020-2034 timeframe.

The Air Force Research Institute conducts research on a variety of important issues as well as facilitates the publication of student research products, published manuscripts, anthologies and research studies each year on behalf of The Air University.

Defense Acquisition Research Journal

The Defense Acquisition Research Journal (ARJ) is a scholarly peer-reviewed journal published by the Defense Acquisition University (DAU). All submissions receive a blind review to ensure impartial evaluation.

Eisenhower School Industry Study Program

A major element in the Eisenhower School curriculum is the study of the resources component of national security. This is largely undertaken within the Industry Studies Program. This Program provides graduates a framework to apply analytical techniques in assessing the state and relevance of a selected economic-industrial sector to national security.
